lyrics
There’s a cabin in the forest and it’s guarded by the night, there’s an old man in the window sitting by the lantern light, hiding from the daylight, he’s afraid to breathe the air, so he sits in his room and waits for a sign while the world is unaware, that he’s waiting for an answer to the questions that he keeps, living his days in silence, only talking in his sleep. The solitude is endless, isolation setting in, occasional interventions from his long forgotten kin, sayin it’s Been a long time since you’ve seen the sun shine. As days turn to years, you’re running out of time. Been a long time since you’ve seen the sun shine, and soon you’re gonna learn that out of sight means out of mind. Well it had to come from somewhere. It was triggered at the start. Now he’s counting all the many ways this cruel world broke his heart. He’s followed all the orders, he’s adhered to every law, but he can’t see the line between what he knows and what he saw. It’s left him all but broken, in his mind and in his soul, but the sad truth of the matter is, he relinquished his control to the fear which he was given by his phone and his TV, and now he’s become a prisoner of his own negativity, sayin it’s Been a long time since you’ve seen the sun shine… Forgotten by society, resigned from humankind. The newsman says we shouldn’t trust our instincts anymore. Just dig a hole to lie in deep beneath your bathroom floor. When will the newsman give the green light to live without fear? Are we just waiting for instructions that will not appear?
